Emile Bourquin is a 1997 graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, having majored in Electrical Engineering, and minoring in Electronic Music.

After college, he worked for Advanced Fibre Communications, now Tellabs, as a Technical Service Engineer, traveling the world troubleshooting misbehaving telecom equipment, and then as a Sustaining Engineer, traveling the world troubleshooting BADLY misbehaving telecom equipment and assisting in cost-reducing existing hardware and firmware. He programmed in C and assembly language.

Migrating to Southern California, he worked as a Senior Software Engineer for TransDimension (now PLX), a producer of chips and software solutions for embedded USB, supporting such customers as Motorola and Hewlett Packard. He programmed in C, and supported various customer platforms that ran on embedded operating systems, including Linux, Windows CE, VxWorks, and Nucleus.
